August 26 2007 , I was 20 years old, I did the unthinkable and joined a “protest”. It isn’t like i really care about protesting anything or trying to make myself famous, it just felt like that was the right thing to do at that time. Boy oh boy, thinking back, that day still give me the creeps. There were police in anti-riot vehicles and there were so many plain clothes police officers, i couldn’t even count how many there actually were ( at least 8!) . This technically wasn’t a protest, take a look at the “protest”

Here’s something interesting, AN OFFICIAL WIKIPEDIA ENTRY OF THAT EVENT ,

A protest by a few people with several action figurines took place on 25 August 2007 under intense police scrutiny, which was considered by Western observers to be a rarity in Singapore.[50][51][52][53] An online group, Xedo Defense, was set up to provide support for the downloaders facing legal action. It raised funds to hire a collective lawyer from Infinitus Law Corporation to represent two of the downloaders when suits were filed against them in November 2008 by the anime studios.[54][55]

CAN”T BELIEVE THE WIKI DID NOT LINK TO ANY OF OUR BLOGS. #$&#($&)#&(&$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\

Anyway, fast forward to today, I guess that company did a knee jerk reaction to the “new” file sharing “trend” and of course sued people for it BUT did that changed anything? Nope. This is not a post to support pirates but the current business model of anime is still broken although Crunchyroll is doing an awesome job , but still. Anyhow, here’s a link to Pirate Bay documentary if you’re keen,

I don’t really have a point in this entry actually, I just think it is nostalgic to think back to that day again and the attention that we had by the police and citizens.  I guess this will be an on-going shit where i un-earth it every now and then just to remind people that you shouldn’t always trust the media regarding everything, the media is a master of doing misinformation, do not trust them always. Hell, even blogs these days cannot be trusted as well but as an educated user like yourself, you have to think and choose which truth you would want to follow.

Right, i am ranting too much! I guess i’ll see you guys again when i un-earth it next year or something!
